Synopsis

In our film we want to explore just exactly why the FAD’s current members are resistant to change, and what declining membership will mean in terms of the clubs longevity. One of the ways that we are planning on illustrating the difference between outside Deaf culture and the Flint Association of the Deaf is by bringing in a younger Deaf individual to gauge the atmosphere of the club and what can be changed to bring in new members. For our film, we want to include both participatory (through our new club member that we will bring in) and observational undertones with observing the dynamics that lie within the organization and how this translates to the larger Deaf community.
